Well, it is 12:41 in the morning and we need to get up in about 3 1/2 hrs to go to the Airport. I haven’t even tried to go to bed yet because I know that I will not be able to sleep. We had a crazy day with the kids trying to get everything in order before we leave. Mowed the lawn, dropped off Colton’s Leopard Gecko at a friends to be watched for 2 ½ weeks, Dropped the kids off at the Oswald’s, packed up, and prayed about as much as I could and still get something’s done. I promised Courage that I would bring him a new soccer ball because I guess the one they have at the orphanage is shot. So Colton and I went and got him a new ball and a Football and a rubber playground ball. I am excited to give them to the boys of the orphanage. When we went to the Oswald’s to drop off Emily, Abby and Colton to be watched by them till we get home, Jenny really had a tough time letting the kids go. Jenny and I are very excited but also very nervous. I think more than anything we just want our first meeting with the kids to be everything they and we have imagined it would be. We have made most of the decisions in this process based simply off of faith that the confirmations we received early in the process did come from God, and that everything will work out if we are obedient and have faith. We made these decisions and commitments knowing full well that it wouldn’t be easy and we understood that there will be some tough times and that not everything will be a nice as a picture on a Christmas post card. I just pray that the Holy Sprit will temper us and help us to be patient and continue to have faith that everything will work out.

We pray that they will like us and feel comfortable around us. I’m not really sure what to say because I really don’t know How I feel. Tomorrow will come very quickly and we will be on that plane and then it is just a matter of waiting till we get there. I will write Monday night and let you all know how the first meeting went.

  1. I have been anxiously awaiting your arrival to Africa, as I am sure tons more people are too. I hope all goes well for you two. I can't wait to see some pictures or news of all that has been happening. Give my niece and nephew a hug from Aunt Amy (their favorite aunt---just kidding all you other aunts).

  2. We all know that I'm the favorite! :) Good try though Amy! Thinking of you guys often. Be safe, have fun and give the kids a hug from the Jenkins!

  3. A little irony for you:
You guys are going to these great measures to bring two more children into your family on Friday and Dave is going in for his operation to make it so no more little baby Jenkins will be joining our family. Feeling a little guilty about this right now!
